Resumen: En el presente artículo se examina la concepción del lenguaje del joven Nietzsche, expuesta, principalmente, en Über Wahrheit und Lüge im außermoralischen Sinne [1873] (Sobre verdad y mentira en sentido extramoral) y Darstellung der antiken Rhetorik [1874] (Presentación de la retórica antigua). Pretendemos mostrar que la concepción del lenguaje del Nietzsche temprano se vio altamente influenciada por el pensamiento de Gustav Gerber, expuesto, principalmente, en Die Sprache als Kunst [1871] (El Lenguaje como arte) (que Nietzsche leyó de manera directa como profesor en Basilea), un libro monumental y profundamente original de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX en Alemania, que, por desgracia, ha caído en el olvido en la actualidad. Para lograr nuestro cometido, analizaremos, en primer término, la concepción del lenguaje de Nietzsche en sus dos obras mencionadas. En segundo lugar, nos concentraremos en la noción de lenguaje que propone Gerber en Die Sprache als Kunst. Es fundamental para nosotros mostrar las coincidencias entre la propuesta del joven Nietzsche y Gerber, haciendo énfasis en la idea de que el lenguaje tiene un carácter metafórico y trópico. Este análisis de fuentes histórico-filosóficas muestra que los primeros pasos de la filosofía del lenguaje de Nietzsche se apoyan en el pensamiento de Gerber.

Title: Gustav Gerber's influence on the young Nietzsche's philosophy of language

Abstract: This paper examines the early Nietzsche's conception of language, as expounded mainly in Über Wahrheit und Lüge im außermoralischen Sinne [1873] (On Truth and Lies in an Extramoral Sense) and Darstellung der antiken Rhetorik [1874] (Presentation of Ancient Rhetoric). We aim to show that the early Nietzsche's conception of language was highly influenced by the thought of Gustav Gerber, as expounded mainly in Die Sprache als Kunst [1871] (The Language as Art) (text that Nietzsche read directly as a professor in Basel), a monumental and deeply original book from the second half of the 19th century in Germany, which has unfortunately fallen into oblivion today. To achieve this goal, we will first analyze Nietzsche's conception of language in his two works mentioned above. Secondly, we will focus on the notion of language proposed by Gerber in Die Sprache als Kunst. It is essential for us to show the coincidences between the proposal of the young Nietzsche and Gerber, emphasizing the idea that language has a metaphorical and tropic character. This analysis of historical-philosophical sources shows that the first steps of Nietzsche's philosophy of language are based on the thought of Gerber.
